Dear community,
As a Black-centered multicultural organization dedicated to fighting racism to improve BIPOC birth outcomes, we stand in solidarity with all BIPOC who suffer violence, discrimination, and prejudice as a result of white supremacy.
We feel deeply for the Asian elders who have been hurt and killed and the families who are left behind. We see and share the fear and pain endured by the mothers and fathers who have been harassed in the streets and the children who are bullied at school on a daily due to the propagation of COVID-related racism. We are concerned for the expecting birthing people whose health may be negatively impacted by the stress these events have caused. This is not OK.
We are truly inspired by the organizations and people who are fostering Black-Asian solidarity around the country, standing strong in the face of this division driven by racist constructs and systems. We see you and we appreciate your wisdom, courage, and support during these trying times.
Please check out our post on Voices for Birth Justice's Instagram post where you can follow some accounts we’ve come across who are doing this work. Please get in touch if you know of others that should be recognized and uplifted. We know there are more out there and we want to help spread the word.
We are stronger together.
