Celebrating Black and Brown Parents at Oakland's Black Joy Parade

We were thrilled to be an official vendor at Oakland's annual Black Joy Parade! Over 10 PTBi staff and community members manned two tables full of swag to promote our Voices for Birth Justice public awareness campaign as well as our SOLARS study. We handed out t-shirts, bags, breast pumps, stickers and more!  Throughout the day, we danced, cheered and laughed with countless passersbys while sharing information about the need to address preterm birth in Black and Brown communities. To celebrate Black and Brown new parents, we showered families with confetti, letting them know that we appreciate them and all that they do.

See excerpts from the day on Voices for Birth Justice's Instagram highlights.

The evening before, PTBi was proud to attend and help sponsor the UCSF Black Caucus 30th Annual Black Heritage Month Gala. The Caucus is the oldest culturally-based affinity group in the UC System? Learn more here.
