My research focuses on the social and health system factors underlying inequities in reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health (RMNCH) globally. I am particularly interested in how RMNCH outcomes are shaped by the quality of care in health facilities as well as by social determinants. I also have an interest in the well-being and motivation of the health workforce.

Ifeyinwa Asiodu, PhD, RN, FAAN

Ifeyinwa Asiodu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Health Care Nursing at University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing. As a researcher, registered nurse, and lactation consultant, her research is focused on the intersection of racism, systemic and structural barriers, life course perspective, and human milk and lactation. Dr. Asiodu uses a critical ethnographic lens to inform her work.

Jayme Congdon, MD, MS

Jayme Congdon MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Core Faculty at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. She conducts community-engaged research to develop and test innovative models of health care delivery that promote access to high-quality care. Her current research projects focus on integrated newborn and postpartum health services, family-centered pediatric primary care, and adolescent behavioral health and substance use. She works clinically and teaches pediatric residents and students in the UCSF newborn nursery and pediatric primary care clinic.

My program of research focuses on health care for acutely and chronically ill infants and children, in community and health care settings. My most recent research focuses on innovative strategies to improve family-centered care and enhance the partnership between families, communities and health care systems to ensure children receive optimal health care before, during and after hospitalization.

Laura Gottlieb, MD, MPH

Laura Gottlieb, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF. A former National Health Services Scholar and safety-net family physician with fellowship training in social determinants of health, Dr. Gottlieb now serves as Principal Investigator on multiple quantitative and qualitative projects examining the integration of social and medical care services.

Miriam Kuppermann is a Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences (primary) and Epidemiology & Biostatistics (secondary). She is also Director of the Program in Clinical Perinatal and Comparative Effectiveness Research in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Director of Preconception and Prenatal Interventions and the Transdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at the UCSF California Preterm Birth Initiative. Dr.
