Stable housing is critical to improving the health of pregnant women and lowering rates of prematurity throughout San Francisco. Mama's, Speak Truth to Housing was a townhall prioritizing pregnant women in the midst of our San Francisco housing crisis. Powerfu voices from across our community shared stories of struggles to maintain stable housing in San Francisco, sharing in the call that housing is a human right. The townhall featured a community resource fair with Homeless Prenatal Program and First 5 San Francisco, and District 9 Supervisor Hillary Ronen joined us to advocate for this important issue.
This event is organized by the UCSF California Preterm Birth Initiative’s Benioff Community Innovators. The Innovators are a group of San Franciscan mothers of color who are working to ensure that all pregnant women and families with young children in San Francisco have adequate and affordable housing to ensure healthy birth outcomes.
