The UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and California Preterm Birth Initiative announce a search for two faculty positions. We are seeking basic, clinical or social scientists with established or promising research programs to bring their diverse expertise and join us in a community-partnered, cell-to-society research enterprise aimed at eliminating disparities in preterm birth and improving outcomes for babies born preterm and their families.


Communications Director

The Director of Communications (DOC) for Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi)-CA leads the strategy development of external and internal messaging, visuals, and campaigns to the following targeted PTBi audiences – community stakeholders, women with lived experience, donors, clinicians and other transdisciplinary researchers – for this high-profile initiative. The DOC position requires extensive experience in all aspects of communications, this includes: strong writing and organizational skills to represent the public face of the PTBi California and connect effectively with a diverse set of local and national audiences and partners. The DOC partners with the UCSF Office of Strategic Communications and University Relations, which leads all media relations, digital communications for and UCSF social media, branding, as well as community and government relations. 


Associate Director

The Associate Director will work in partnership with the PTBi-CA Program Director to provide oversight and day-to-day management of: sponsored research portfolio in coordination with Research Management Services (RMS), Department Post Award Team and other related offices at UCSF. This position will also have Administrative oversight of the PTBi-CA administrative staff. This position will serve as the primary administrative lead for the PTBi-CA Resource Allocation Program (RAP) and will be encouraged to develop relationships with various community, governmental and other nonprofit organizations to raise funds and awareness and build resources.
